Elusive and invisible, smell keeps us wondering, intrigued by its existence and composition.
Fog, a smell-conducting material, was the focus of my study. Throughout my research I have been able to control this fragile material and shape it, reaching a subtile point where the visual qualities of smell can be as fascinating and intriguing as the smell diffused.
Given a matter, smell takes a shape; still volatile, it is kept in a perpetual flow that goes from one element to the other allowing us to play with it and influence its form. Scaled down to human dimensions, this elusive fog provides us with a multi-sensorial experience.
For Brûme, Sissel Tolaas has concocted a fragrance aimed to rival the visual qualities of the flowing fog. The scent recalls of an old bookshop, fresh fig blossom and a synthetic hint of plastic.
Brûme, is a smell diffuser that uncovers the physical qualities smell can have when treated and designed.
